Schola Antiqua – Voices Across the Divide
July 13 @ 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm$10 - $20
From Catholic Wittenberg to Protestant France, and places in between—en route to Lübeck.
Schola Antiqua collaborated with The Newberry Library in fall 2017 for its celebration of the quincentennial of the Reformation. The Library developed a multidisciplinary exhibit, Religious Change 1450-1700, which explores how religion and print made the medieval world modern. Part of that project explores music, which Schola Antiqua provided. In August 2017, the ensemble recorded music to be used in the Library’s exhibit hall. In September 2017, the group performed music from The Newberry’s collection of printed materials on display with commentary on the transformations in musical style and genre in the 16th and 17th centuries.
Performers include Michael Anderson, William Chin, and Matthew Dean along with additional guest artists.
