Schola Antiqua – Voices Across the Divide
July 13 @ 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm$10 - $20
From Catholic Wittenberg to Protestant France, and places in between—en route to Lübeck.
Schola Antiqua will perform Voices Across the Divide, an evening of vocal music rooted in their fall 2017 collaboration with The Newberry Library on a multidisciplinary exhibit, Religious Change and Print, 1450-1700. Exploring how religion and print made the medieval world modern, the project includes an in-person exhibit, an extensive online digital experience, and musical performances. Schola Antiqua recorded music to be used in the Library’s exhibit hall and performed music from The Newberry’s collection of printed materials on display with commentary on the transformations in musical style and genre in the 16th and 17th centuries.
Performers include Stephanie Culica and Kaitlin Foley (sopranos); Nolan Carter and Matthew Dean (tenors), and William Chin, Michael Hawes, Joseph Hubbard, and Joe Labozetta (Basses).
